The header plugs into +5 and GND on the left side, and pins 8 and 9 on the right. The latter connections are only done for structural raesons, and are simply passed through to the last pair of sockets on the top of the connector for use in the circuit if needed.
Harnesses are positioned and laced. 2-row PC headers are stripped, repopulated with pins down one row, and leads passed through the top for strain relief and soldered to the backside of the pin. The resulting assembly is low-profile, sturdy and retains access to the pin tops for debug purposes.
Nearly complete harness for temperature sensor, and complete harness for LCD. A short test thermocouple is attached - if it is damaged, we won't weep.
Our basic temperature code works! The right-hand number is an instantanous sample at 100 mS interval, and the left-hand is a 1 second moving average.
